The surrounding legend reads QUEENSLAND INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION with the date 1897 at the base, separated by rosette stops.

Reverse description Plain gilt field enclosed by a large laurel wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow, left blank to receive the recipient's engraved name. The legend AWARDED TO appears in the upper interior of the wreath. The maker's signature STOKES & SONS is engraved in small lettering at the base below the wreath.
