Obverse description A Coorg warrior in high relief stands in a wide stance, raising a large curved knife (ayda katti) aloft in his right hand while his left hand grasps the barrel of a musket planted vertically at his side. The figure stands on a ground line within a plain field, surrounded by a continuous circular legend in Kannada script.

Obverse lettering (Translation: A mark of favour given for loyalty to the Company`s Government in suppressing rebellion in the months of April and May 1837)
Reverse description The central field displays two crossed Coorg ayda katti knives overlaid with traditional Coorg ornaments including chains and decorated sheaths, all enclosed within an open laurel wreath. A small ornamental device appears at the base of the central composition. The circular Latin legend runs along the outer border, with the place name COORG and date APRIL 1837 inscribed in the lower exergue.
