Obverse description Three-quarter bust of Captain Robert Falcon Scott facing left, wearing naval uniform and peaked cap, framed by an open laurel wreath in the lower field. A horizontal band across the middle field bears the expedition dates JANUARY 2. 1902 and MARCH 5. 1904 flanking the portrait. The surrounding legend is divided by the portrait into upper and lower arcs, with the engraver's signature GILBERT BAYES incised at the base of the bust.
