Obverse description Shield-shaped medal with a central circular medallion in relief depicting four rugby players in action — a central ball-carrier fending off a tackler to the left while two further players advance in support to the right. The circular field is framed by an ornate wreath of laurel leaves with scrollwork cartouches at the top and bottom of the shield.
