Obverse description The silver-toned inner disc features a standing figure of Sant'Ambrogio (patron saint of Milan) holding a whip and a flag, set before a detailed relief of the Castello Sforzesco. To the upper right, the Visconti biscione (a crowned serpent devouring a child) appears in high relief. The gilt outer ring bears the circular legend in blue enamel lettering.
