Obverse description The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Deutsch-Ostafrikanische Gesellschaft (German East Africa Company) in high relief, featuring a lion passant beneath a palm tree, flanked by laurel and oak branches, with a decorative scrolled cartouche below. The dates 1888 and 1889 appear on either side of the crest. The circular legend reads DEUTSCH-OSTAFRIKANISCHE GESELLSCHAFT around the upper portion of the field.
