| Obverse description | Two allegorical figures flank a central oval cartouche: at left, Mercury wearing a winged helmet and holding a caduceus; at right, a draped female figure holding an anchor, with the Statue of Liberty visible behind her. The central oval depicts a steamship at sea in high relief. Above the cartouche is the CGT monogram within a ship's wheel, and the lower field is adorned with a cornucopia and harvest motifs. The border is beaded throughout. |
