Obverse description Central medallion bearing the civic arms of Kirkcaldy — a turreted castle gateway — encircled by the motto legend VIGILANDO MUNIO. Surrounding the central medallion, four ribbon scrolls radiate outward in a cross formation, each quadrant filled with symbolic instruments of science and art in high relief, including an Ionic capital, scientific instruments, a drum, an anvil, and artistic tools. The outer legend reads KIRKCALDY SCHOOL OF SCIENCE & ART along the border.
