Obverse description Scotia seated left, wearing a mural crown and classical drapery, extending a laurel wreath in her right hand. Behind her are various emblems of industry including a large gear wheel, a globe, and a small bust on a pedestal, with a Gothic church spire and a decorative urn visible in the background. The date 1865-66 appears in the exergue, and the engravers' name MACLURE & MACDONALD is inscribed in the lower field.
