Obverse description A full-length figure of a volunteer soldier in uniform, wearing a plumed shako and carrying a musket, stands at attention in the centre of the field, flanked on the left by a large oak tree and on the right by a Gothic church building. The circular legend around the upper field names the corps, with the founding date in the exergue below a horizontal baseline.

Reverse description The armorial bearings of Sir John Henniker are displayed on a shield at centre, flanked by two crossed flags — a Union Jack to the left and a regimental colour to the right — with a helmet and mantling above. A scroll below the shield bears the motto DEUS MAJOR COLUMNA, and a ribbon scroll above carries the Greek inscription ΤΟΥ ΑΡΙΣΤΕΥΕΙΝ ΕΝΕΚΑ. The outer circular legend records the purpose of the award, with the presentation inscription and date in the lower exergue.
