Obverse description A sepoy in uniform stands in high relief at centre, holding an upright spear in his right hand while grasping two captured flags — one being the Union Jack displayed upright and one inverted — against his body. Captured cannon and cannonballs lie in the foreground, with the fortifications of Seringapatam depicted in the background on both left and right. The medal has a milled border and is fitted with a plain suspension loop at the top.

Reverse description Central field bears the English inscription within a tied laurel wreath. A continuous Persian/Urdu legend in naskh script encircles the wreath around the entire border of the field, with a small floral ornament at the bottom. The medal retains its original suspension loop at the top.
