Obverse description Standing full-length figure of a draped classical female in high relief, facing slightly left, holding a laurel wreath extended in her right hand and a long staff or sceptre in her left. The circular legend runs around the inner border, and the medal is fitted with a ring suspension at the top.

Reverse description The plain field bears a fully engraved multi-line inscription in a mix of blackletter, italic, and roman capital scripts, recording the award of the medal by The Historical Society of the University of Dublin on January 1st, 1794, to Mr. Robert Deane for his exertions in History. The medal retains its ring suspension at the top.
