Obverse description A detailed plan of the Bay of Gibraltar in relief occupies the field, depicting the coastline, the positions of defensive batteries, and numerous small vessels representing the attacking Franco-Spanish fleet. A ribbon legend arches along the upper border, and a rectangular tablet in the lower exergue bears the date in Roman numerals.

Reverse description The field is filled with a lengthy dedicatory inscription in concentric arched lines within an olive wreath flanking both sides. At the lower centre, a couchant British lion rests its forepaw upon the shield of Gibraltar bearing a castle, set on a raised rectangular tablet inscribed with the dates of the blockade and siege in Roman numerals.
