Obverse description The arms of Calcutta in high relief at centre, featuring a quartered shield with a lion and palm tree in the upper half and a sailing vessel at sea in the lower half, surmounted by a mural crown. Two adjutant storks serve as supporters flanking the shield, and a ribbon scroll below bears the motto ARDUA STABILIS PER ESTO. The circular legend CALCUTTA ART SOCIETY appears along the upper rim within a beaded border.
