Obverse description A detailed architectural view of the Crystal Palace building in relief occupies the lower field, flanked by two towers and decorative foliage. Above the building, an ornate scrollwork cartouche bears the legend CRYSTAL PALACE in raised letters, with the legend THE NATIONAL SHOW arching along the upper rim. At the base, an oval cartouche within scrollwork contains the legend CAGE BIRD EXHIBITION.
