Obverse description Central field displays the heraldic arms of the United Diocese of Killaloe, Kilfenora, Clonfert and Kilmacduagh, featuring an open Holy Bible and Book of Common Prayer surmounted by a bishop's mitre, with a shield below bearing a key and crossed devices, flanked by shamrock sprigs. A scroll in relief across the centre bears the motto PROVE ALL THINGS. The circular legend naming the united diocese runs around the full periphery.

Reverse description The reverse field is entirely engraved with curved lines of text identifying the award as the Bowles Memorial Medal, presented at the Nenagh Centre Sunday School Examination to Caroline Rebecca Dagg of the Parish of Templederry for superior answering in Division IV, dated 1916. A small decorative flourish appears at the top and bottom of the field, and Birmingham hallmarks are visible at the base.
