Obverse description Two standing soldiers in uniform flank a central crowned regimental badge featuring a star-form order with laurel branches and the motto banner PRO PATRIA SEMPER in relief. Between the figures, a zigzag ribbon banner in the lower field bears the legend 5TH V.B. RIFLE BRIGADE in segments. Circular legends around the field give the regiment name, founding and centenary dates, and the unit's full title.

Reverse description Plain field with engraved and die-struck text across the entire surface. A decorative scrollwork ornament appears at the top below the legend arc. The recipient's name, Pte. A. Green, is engraved in large letters at centre, with the occasion, date, and commanding officer's name arranged in the surrounding field and along the lower arc.
