Obverse description A seated classical female figure in high relief, facing left, holds a bird of prey on her raised right hand. Surrounding her are various emblems of the arts and sciences, including a potter's wheel, a beehive, a lyre, a classical bust, a Greek temple in the exergue, and foliage to the left. A faint engraver's signature appears along the lower exergue line.
