| Reverse description | Full-length frontal figure of Emperor Michael VI Stratioticus standing on a footstool, dressed in full imperial loros costume richly decorated with jewels and pellets. The emperor wears a jewelled crown and holds a patriarchal cross-sceptre in his right hand and an orb surmounted by a cross in his left. The figure is rendered in the formal hieratic style typical of mid-Byzantine imperial portraiture, with the imperial regalia meticulously detailed. A circular Greek legend surrounding the figure reads +mIXAHΛ AЧ-TOCRAT (Michael the Autocrat), within a beaded border. |
