Reverse description The allegorical figure of Clementia, draped and enthroned, is depicted seated to the left upon an ornate chair or throne. In her extended right hand she holds an olive branch, symbolic of mercy and clemency, while her left hand rests upon a long vertical sceptre, an attribute of imperial authority. The composition conveys the ideological message of the Vitellian regime, presenting the virtue of clemency as a defining characteristic of the new emperor's rule. The reverse legend CLEMENTIA IMP GERMANICI arcs around the field, identifying the personification and its divine association with Vitellius.
