Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristically realistic portraiture typical of Flavian die-cutting. The emperor's broad, fleshy features are rendered with individualistic detail, including a strong brow and short neck. The laurel wreath, tied with a ribbon whose ends fall at the nape, is finely modeled. The surrounding legend reads IMP CAES VESP AVG CEN, divided across the upper and lower fields, with beaded border absent on this irregular flan.
