Reverse description A heifer or young bull standing to the right in full profile, rendered in high relief against a plain field, with fine anatomical detail visible in the musculature and legs. The animal stands on a simple ground line, its head turned slightly forward, tail raised. The abbreviated legend COS V appears in the upper field above the animal, within a beaded border. This bovine type, associated with the lusus Troiae or sacrificial imagery, was employed on Flavian aurei to evoke religious piety and Roman tradition.
