| Obverse description | Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in the characteristic Flavian portrait style with a broad, fleshy face and short-cropped hair beneath the laurel wreath. The effigy is depicted with naturalistic detail typical of early Flavian aurei. The encircling legend IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG TR P runs around the periphery of the flan in incuse Latin capitals. The coin's irregular, slightly oval flan reflects the hand-struck hammered technique of the Rome mint. |
