Obverse lettering IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG
(Translation: Imperator Caesar Vespasianus Augustus. Supreme commander (Imperator) Caesar Vespasian, emperor (Augustus).)
Reverse description The personification of Pax stands in full figure facing left at center, rendered in flowing Classical drapery that falls in deeply cut folds to the ground. In her extended right hand she holds an olive branch, symbol of peace, while her left arm cradles a caduceus, the staff of Mercury associated with harmony and prosperity. The figure is depicted with elegant contrapposto, her head turned slightly downward, conveying serenity. A beaded border encircles the design, with the abbreviated Latin consular and tribunician legend arranged around the periphery of the field.
