Obverse description Laureate bust of Vespasian facing right, depicted with a slightly draped shoulder, rendered in the realist portraiture style characteristic of the Flavian dynasty. The emperor's effigy displays characteristic features including a broad forehead and strong jaw. The encircling legend IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG is inscribed in bold Latin capitals along the outer border of the flan, with beaded inner and outer borders visible. The die-work is of high quality, consistent with early Flavian aureus production.
