Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate bust of Divus Vespasian facing right, with naturalistic portraiture characteristic of Flavian coinage, the emperor depicted with short curly hair and a wreath of laurel leaves. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower field. The encircling Latin legend reads DIVVS AVGVSTVS VESPASIANVS, distributed around the periphery within a beaded border. The portrait conveys the posthumous, deified status of Vespasian, issued under his son Titus.
