| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair beneath a laurel wreath secured by a ribbon visible at the nape. The emperor's paludamentum (military cloak) is fastened at the right shoulder, its folds rendered with characteristic Trajanic sculptural precision. The portrait presents the emperor's strong, idealized features in the characteristic style of the early second century Roman imperial workshops. The encircling legend, executed in bold, well-spaced Latin capitals, runs clockwise within a beaded border. Below the bust truncation, the mark IMP is visible. |
