Obverse description Bare laureate head of Titus facing right, with aegis at shoulder, rendered in high relief with fine portraiture characteristic of early Flavian coinage. The facial features display the strong, naturalistic style of the period, with closely cropped hair beneath the laurel wreath. A beaded border frames the design. The circumferential legend reads IMP T CAESAR VESPASIANVS, identifying Titus in his capacity as imperator and heir to Vespasian.

Reverse description Victory personified stands facing right, her left foot raised and resting upon a captured enemy helmet, in a pose conveying triumphant dominion. She inscribes the legend IMP T CAES upon a large oval shield affixed to a palm tree — the palm being the traditional Roman symbol of Judean conquest — while her wings are spread behind her. The composition is a celebrated commemorative type marking the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70, and the reverse legend IVDAEA DEVICTA, distributed in the field, proclaims the defeat of Judaea. The beaded border and bold letter forms are characteristic of Flavian aureus engraving.
