Reverse description The legend S·P·Q·R is displayed prominently at center within a large, finely detailed oak wreath (corona civica), tied at the base with a small ribbon or knot and surmounted by a circular pellet device at the apex. The wreath is composed of lobed oak leaves and acorns rendered in high relief, characteristic of the hammered gold coinage of the civil war period of 68–69 AD. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.
