| Reverse description | An eagle displayed standing to the left upon a dolphin, rendered in high relief in the provincial Hellenistic tradition associated with Olbia. The eagle, a symbol of royal authority, grips the dolphin firmly, referencing the longstanding civic iconography of Olbia. To the right of the central device, the abbreviation ΣꞶ appears in the field, denoting a date in the Pontic era, while below the dolphin the mint abbreviation ΟΛ identifies the issuing city of Olbia. The flan edges are irregular and uneven, consistent with the hammered production technique employed at this mint. |
