Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate bust of Nero facing right, with short wavy hair rendered in fine detail and a youthful, idealised portrait typical of his early reign. The neck is truncated and the bust is draped at the shoulder. The surrounding legend reads NERO CAESAR AVG IMP, disposed clockwise around the inner beaded border. The die-cutting exhibits the refined style characteristic of the Rome Mint under Nero's early coinage.
