Reverse description A civic oak-leaf wreath (corona civica) occupies the central field, enclosing the abbreviated legend EX S C (ex senatus consulto — by decree of the Senate) within its interior. The wreath is rendered in fine detail with individually articulated leaves tied at the base. A continuous Latin legend encircles the wreath, running around the full perimeter of the coin within a beaded border. The reverse design follows a type known from the earliest aurei of Nero's reign, emphasizing senatorial authority and dynastic legitimacy.
