Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Maximinus II (Daia) facing right, with short beard rendered in fine stippled detail, the laureate wreath depicted with elaborate layered leaves tied with ribbons falling behind the neck. The emperor's strong facial features are rendered in the late Tetrarchic style, with a prominent brow and firm jaw. The paludamentum is fastened at the shoulder with a fibula, visible at the truncation. The encircling Latin legend reads MAXIMINVS AVGVSTVS in relief letters around the periphery of the flan.
