| Obverse description | Laureate head of Maximianus Herculius facing right, rendered with considerable naturalistic detail including a short beard and strong facial features characteristic of the Tetrarchic portrait style. The emperor's laurel wreath is rendered in high relief with individual leaves clearly articulated. The legend encircles the portrait in the field, reading from left to right around the bust. The flan edge bears fine serrations typical of Tetrarchic aurei from the Ticinum mint. |
