| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Maximian facing right, with short beard rendered in fine detail, the emperor depicted with strong, idealized features characteristic of Tetrarchic portraiture. The hair is closely cropped beneath the laurel wreath, whose ties fall behind the neck. The legend MAXIMIA-NVS P F AVG is arranged around the periphery in bold, well-spaced Latin capitals within a beaded border. The truncation of the bust is unadorned, and the overall style reflects the vigorous, blocky aesthetic of the early Tetrarchic period. |
