Obverse description Laureate bust of Maximian (Maximianus Herculius) facing right, draped and cuirassed, rendered in high relief with finely detailed short hair and close-cropped beard characteristic of Tetrarchic portraiture. The effigy displays the robust, powerful facial features associated with the Herculian dynasty's iconographic programme. The surrounding field is clean, and the legend MAXIMIANVS P F AVG runs clockwise around the periphery in sharp, well-spaced Latin capitals. The coin is bordered by a beaded inner circle (grenetis), consistent with Tetrarchic aureus production at the Treveri mint.

Reverse description Bust of Hercules facing right, depicted with the Nemean lion's scalp worn over his head and the lion's paws knotted at the chest, identifying the deity as Maximian's divine patron within the Tetrarchic ideology. The heroic bust is rendered with flowing hair and a full beard, conveying divine strength and authority. The legend HERCVLI CON-SERVATORI is distributed around the periphery in Latin capitals, split across both sides of the field. The mint mark TR appears in the exergue, identifying the Treveri (Augusta Treverorum) mint. A beaded border frames the entire design.
