Obverse description Bare head of Marcus Antonius facing right, rendered in high relief with curly hair and strong, individualistic facial features characteristic of late Republican portraiture. The legend M · ANTON · IMP · III · VIR · R · P · C is disposed around the effigy, reading from left to right along the periphery of the flan. The field is plain, and the entire design is enclosed within a pronounced border of large dots. The portrait exhibits the robust, square-jawed likeness conventionally associated with Antonius on aurei of this series.

Reverse description Bare and bearded head of Octavian (the future Augustus) facing right, depicted in a youthful but stern portrait with short, finely rendered hair and a short beard, reflecting his appearance during the triumviral period. The circumferential legend CAESAR · IMP · III · VIR · R · P · C surrounds the effigy, distributed evenly around the field. A border of large, well-defined dots frames the entire design. The portrait style is consistent with other aurei and denarii of the Second Triumvirate struck circa 39 BC, presenting Octavian as co-equal partner to Antonius in their joint issue.
