In the left field, the moneyer's inscription A·MAN LI·A·F·Q identifies Aulus Manlius, son of Aulus, quaestor. The portrait is boldly rendered in the high-relief hammered style characteristic of late Republican gold coinage. The design is framed by a border of dots.
