| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and beard. The emperor wears a muscled cuirass with visible paludamentum (military cloak) draped over the left shoulder, the folds depicted with characteristic Hadrianic naturalism. An aegis or decorative element is visible at the left shoulder. The portrait is set within a beaded border, with the imperial legend disposed around the field in bold, well-spaced Latin capitals. The engraving displays the accomplished craftsmanship typical of the Rome mint under Hadrian. |
