| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Hadrian facing right, with characteristic short curly hair and a close-cropped beard, rendered in fine high relief. The emperor is depicted with a draped and cuirassed bust, conveying imperial military authority. A beaded border runs along the coin's periphery. The Latin legend HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS is distributed around the effigy, identifying the emperor by name and his Augustan title. The portrait is executed with the refined naturalism characteristic of Hadrianic coinage from the Rome Mint. |
