Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate and cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed laurel wreath and military paludamentum visible at the left shoulder. The emperor's features are portrayed in the idealized yet individualized style characteristic of early Hadrianic portraiture. The circumferential legend in Latin capitals runs from lower left to upper right around the bust. The flan is somewhat irregular, as is typical of hammered aurei of this period.
