| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of Hadrian facing right, portrayed with his characteristic short curly hair and full beard, the drapery visible at the truncation of the left shoulder. The effigy is rendered in high relief with naturalistic, portrait-like detail typical of Hadrianic coinage. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the field, bordered by an inner beaded circle. The portrait conveys imperial authority and reflects the philhellenic aesthetic favored by Hadrian's court engravers. |
