| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Maximinus Daia (Maximinus II) facing right, depicted with short beard and close-cropped hair beneath the laurel wreath, the neck and truncation rendered with bold, confident die-cutting characteristic of the Serdica mint. The effigy displays a strongly modelled profile with pronounced brow and jaw, consistent with the robust portraiture of the Tetrarchic period. The encircling Latin legend reads MAXIMINVS NOB CAES, identifying the subject as Caesar, and is separated from the bust by a finely beaded inner border. |
