| Reverse description | Jupiter Conservator stands facing left in the field, depicted nude with a chlamys draped over his left shoulder and arm. In his extended right hand he holds a Victory or an orb, while his left hand grasps a long sceptre or eagle-tipped staff. The composition is rendered in a bold Tetrarchic style with pronounced musculature. The divided legend IOVI CONSE-RVATORI flanks the central figure on either side. In the exergue appears the mint mark SMN, identifying the Nicomedia mint, set between two pellets. |
