Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of Emperor Galba facing right, rendered in a realistic, somewhat aged portrait style characteristic of the Julio-Claudian and early Flavian traditions. The emperor's features are firmly modelled, with a strong jaw and prominent brow, reflecting official imperial portraiture. A paludamentum (military cloak) is visible at the shoulder, secured at the neck. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP SER GALBA CAESAR AVG, arranged around the bust within a beaded border. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered aurei of this period.
