Obverse description Laureate bust of Domitian facing right, with aegis at the shoulder, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and strong facial features characteristic of Flavian portraiture. The emperor is depicted with a broad neck and muscular bust, conveying imperial authority. The circumferential Latin legend IMP CAES DOMITIANVS AVG P M runs around the periphery of the flan, reading from left to right. The die work displays the confident, naturalistic style associated with the Rome mint under the Flavian dynasty.
