Reverse description Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war, depicted standing left in full figure, helmeted and draped in a flowing chiton and paludamentum, holding an upright spear in her right hand with her left arm resting at her side. The goddess stands on a plain ground line, rendered with elegant drapery folds characteristic of Flavian die-engraving. The reverse legend encircles the field within a beaded border, recording Domitian's principal titulature for the year 84 AD. Minerva was Domitian's patron deity and appears frequently on his coinage in a variety of martial poses.
