| Obverse description | Laureate head of Domitian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic Flavian portraiture style, the laurel wreath secured by ties visible at the nape. The bust is bare-shouldered, presenting a bold and assertive imperial effigy. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP CAES DOMITIAN AVG PONT, distributed around the periphery of the flan in well-spaced capital letters. The die engraving exhibits the confident, slightly idealized portraiture typical of early Domitianic aurei struck at the Rome mint. |
