Obverse description Radiate head of Sol facing right, rendered with characteristic diverging rays emanating from the crown of the head and flowing wavy hair falling to the neck, executed in fine relief. The facial features are delicate and youthful, consistent with late Republican artistic conventions for the solar deity. The field is plain and unlettered. The design is contained within a neat border of dots (grenetis) following the irregular flan periphery.
