Reverse description Victory personified standing facing, her large wings spread symmetrically to either side, grasping with both hands a large circular shield (clipeus) set before her body and inscribed CL V. The figure rests on a globe or base decorated with foliage at the foot. The legend S P Q R appears above in the upper field, flanking the figure's head. The overall composition commemorates the presentation of the golden shield (clipeus aureus) awarded to Augustus by the Senate and Roman people in 27 BC.
